Anthias is the scientific name of a protogynous hermaphrodite fish which, with the growth, from female becomes male in relation to the number of males present in the school.

Anthias is a dance performance based on the theme of gender identity.
Male and female as genders present in the same individual and possibly interchangeable.

The body is the center of the performative work, but it is a precise genderless body, which moves among its characteristics, exploring and recognizing them as its own even if contrasting.
A turned body, without specific connotations, in search of its own balance.

An ambivalent body without head or tail, which cannot be named, enclosed in a specific genre.
A contradictory body.

"In this historical-social moment, I am interested in understanding how much the canonical roles of woman / man are changing,
how much they are approaching, merging, exchanging or moving away ".

Anthia is a project born in the course IFA - InteatroFestival Academy 2012, the program of artistic improvement and research of Inteatro, Polverigi, developed during the residency of Azala_Bilbao 2013, presented at the pim-off theater in Milan.
